My name is Sally Ann Lovelace. I am a 3rd degree black belt and have been consistently training in martial arts for over 9 years. Not only have I been training but thoroughly enjoyed teaching and assisting in various classes for about 7 of those years. Training in the art of Hup Kwon Do has been very beneficial, and has influenced my life from day to day. I have not only developed skills in self-defense, but have developed other various skills such as humility, honesty, perseverance, self control, discipline, and leadership. I feel privileged to be able to train under Master Tong's instruction, for all these years, and through his knowledge in the martial arts he has enabled me to have a well rounded aspect as to what a true martial art is all about. I thoroughly enjoy being an instructor it is my goal to assist children with various skills and to help them learn while having fun!

I have been training 28 years, since 1981. I have trained in the U.S. Army close combat in 1967-1970, Tae Kwon Do, Shoto Khan, Choi Kwan Do, Akido and Hup Kwon Do - 2nd degree black belt. I like the way Hup Kwon Do utilizes all aspects of the various martial arts from stand up to ground defense.

I started training in the art of Choi Kwan Do in 1989, and for the next 4 years achieved the rank of Bo-Dan. I started training again under Master Tong in 2003 and since achieved my current rank of EE Dan red stripe belt. I have trained in martial arts for a total of 12 years. Since Master Tong introduced Hup Kwon Do to our school I have really enjoyed learning the variety of different styles that have been brought together into one art. I look forward to learning much more while training in the art of Hup Kwon Do.

I have been training at the Sterling Heights school since 2001. I was one of the first students to test under Hup Kwon Do for a 2nd degree black belt in August of 2007. I currently hold a 2nd degree, EE Dan, orange stripe belt. I enjoy Hup Kwon Do because of the variety of techniques brought together within the system, the friendly and patient instructors, and because the students that train at both schools make you feel like you belong to a large family that wants you to succeed. Training brings a sense of discipline and well being into my life, while making exercise fun to participate.

I embarked on my journey as a martial artist as a 12th grade senior in high school. Although I has many reasons for joining the martial arts world back then - better physical fitness, protection, and an activity to put on college applications. The reasons I continue to perform martial arts had very little to do with any of them. Over my 7-1/2 years under Master Tong, the friends I've made, the lessons I learned and taught, and the community I belonged to will forever be part of who I am. although it has not been easy to balance school and even grad school, while training and teaching over the years, the flexibility Hup Kwon Do allows me to continue to be part of the community I love ever so much.

I am a 2nd degree black belt and have been training for about five years now. I feel that Hup Kwon do has helped me physically and mentally. It helps me stay in shape and prepare for anything that comes my way. It really helps me feel more confident and helps me relieve stress!
